How to Register for the LSAT

Posted by:

We often get questions from new aspiring law students about how to register for the LSAT.  The first  step to taking the LSAT is obviously registering for the LSAT.  Registration is done through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC).   This blog post will provide some tips as to how to set up your account with the LSAC.

How to register for the LSAT in 3 simple steps . . . .

1) Registering for the LSAT through LSAC

In order to register for the LSAT, you will need to complete an online registration process at the Law School Admissions Council’s website.  As a first step, you should create a Future Student account. Everything required for you to secure a test date will be handled through your account.   How to Register for the LSAT

2) Completing your LSAC profile

The next step in how to register for the LSAT is to complete your LSAC profile.  When you register, you should complete the “Profile” section.   Your profile enables you to select who can obtain information about you.

The LSAT section will have test administration dates, deadlines, and information about fees and forms you may have to submit prior to taking the test. When you are ready to register for a test date, go to Register for the LSAT.  The LSAC website has overviews and related information within the different areas you can visit. Familiarize yourself with these sections and boxes, as they will help you through the process and can answer questions you may have.

3) Choosing the location for your LSAT

The final step in how to register for the LSAT is securing a test location.  The Register for the LSAT section will ask you to choose an LSAT location.  Next, you will choose a test date and testing center.  You will be able to see the testing centers available in your area, and the number of spaces open at each center will be displayed.  Check out our blog post on choosing the right LSAT test center for some tips in this regard.

After selecting a testing center, you will be able to confirm and pay any fees needed to hold your seat.  LSAC will send you emails after you have successfully registered, and when your admission ticket is ready to print.  You will also be able to check your status through your account.  Even though you have completed the steps necessary to register for the LSAT, remember to check your account before your test date, since the LSAC may sometimes make changes to testing locations.

And that’s it!  That’s how to register for the LSAT!
